Black Moon Bodywork LLC invites women & femmes in community leadership - current and future heads of households and organizations - into spaces for healing, resilience and vision. From bodywork and coaching in indigenous practices, to community care retreats and workshops, to public health research and policy, our work is rooted in traditions of the Black Diaspora and carried forward in the vision lens of Afrofuturism.
We believe that healing is based in bodies and somatic memory, brain chemistry and hormones, nervous system, vagus nerve, and gut bacteria, as well as the public health of our neighborhoods. We believe in reproductive justice as the ability to create family, community, and future visions of society on our own terms - with accountability, justice, and community support.
ARVIGO MAYA ABDOMINAL THERAPY
Arvigo® Therapy is best known for addressing misalignment or congestion in the reproductive organs of both men and women, as well as many common digestive disorders. This technique is performed externally by gently guiding and supporting organs back into their optimal position, allowing for improved functioning for optimal health and wellness.
A postpartum doula provides evidence-based information on infant feeding, soothing, newborn care, bonding, emotional and physical recovery in the first days and weeks after birth. This can include assistance with household chores and cleaning, cooking, simple errands, active listening and peer counseling, and referrals to providers for lactation, mental health, pelvic floor or other areas of support.
PRENATAL MASSAGE & BODYWORK
Prenatal massage eases leg and back pain, relieves depression and anxiety, and can even reduce the risk of premature labor, shorten labor length by 3 hours, and reduce pain and need for medication. Prenatal and postnatal sessions focus on stress and anxiety reduction, fetal position, round ligament and low back relief, balancing the pelvis for labor, abdominal postpartum recovery, and shoulder relief for nursing.
